Gumboot dancing was introduced at Grey College 8 years ago and is a remarkably popular and vibrant activity. The group consists of between 8 and 10 members, and the core group continues until members leave school and are replaced after an audition. The group is responsible for choreography and they determine their practice sessions at a time which best suits them. These dancers are extremely dedicated and there is a strong connection in the group...this is not an activity for the lazy or the unmotivated. The performances are by invitation at a wide variety of functions, and the level of performance is such that the good reputation of the group spreads by word of mouth. The Gumboot Dancers also perform at the annual Grey College Music Festival.
One of the most positive features of the group is the very strong team spirit which develops, and the absolute enthusiasm en dependability of this focused group of dancers.
