JAARVERSLAG – 2011 – ANNUAL REPORT
 
 
In 1887, Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor wrote the following on the fall of the Athenian Republic, some 2000 years earlier:
“A democracy is always temporary in nature. It will exist until voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse over loose fiscal policy which is always followed by a dictatorship.
 
The average age of the greatest democracies has been about 200 years and they go through the following sequence:
From bondage to spiritual faith
From spiritual faith to great courage
From courage to liberty
From liberty to abundance
From abundance to complacency
From complacency to apathy
From apathy to dependence
From dependence back into bondage.”
 
Wat het dit met Grey en met ons te doen? ALLES.
As ons onsself die vraag sou afvra waar Grey tans op op hierdie volgorde is, sal ons dalk moet erken dat ons in die tweede helfte in beweeg… 
 
Wat kan ons(personeel, seuns, ouers, oud-Greys, Beheerliggaam) hieromtrent doen?  Ons moet die GREY MAGIC wat nie omskryf kan word nie - anders is dit nie meer MAGIC nie - herontdek en elke dag beleef en uitleef, sodat ander dit ook sal ervaar en elke nuwe geslag Greymense daaruit inspirasie put. En dit het weinig te doen met akademiese- of sportuitslae en groot geleenthede soos die musiekfees.
 
These events are actually the manifestation of the GREY WAY which has its foundations in respect for others, respect for leaders and elders, respect for our country and respect for our Creator. This respect creates a Grey team with manners, guts, loyalty, integrity, tolerance and self-discipline, as the boys themselves penned it last year.
 
Die sukses van die Grey-omgewing ontwikkel nie vanself nie – dit word geskep deur ons almal wat hier arbei. Want omdat Grey ‘n idéé en ‘n ideaal is het hy ‘n manier om jou onwillekeurig deel van hom te maak – ‘n amper gedwonge verbondenheid wat jou rustig maak in die wete dat jy deel is van iets groter as die belang van eie individualiteit.
 
Our staff is strategically placed to play a pivotal role in building character, shaping personality and fostering core social values. A school is the critical centre of communities and is in a good position to assist in addressing the social challenges our country faces. If we want to avert the decline described at the beginning of this report, we have to mobilize all our stakeholders and work together for the common good.
 
In order to be truly successful, we have to communicate with one another, never forgetting that communication is about passion, and generosity with one’s time…
 
Ons moet ons waardes kommunikeer en onthou dat waardes van jongs af geassimileer word (so ook `n gebrek aan waardes). Ons as volwassenes, as ouers, as onderwysers, moet rolmodelle wees EN ons moet jongmense deur ons woorde en dade oortuig van die waarde van ‘n etiese leefwyse. Dan kan ons ons kleim afsteek as ‘n skool met ‘n wenkultuur.
 
A high performance culture requires a culture of discipline and all our stakeholders must be involved in instilling this culture – then we will not slide down the scale as set out at the beginning of this report.
 
Let the commitment of all of us meet the potential of all of us – then anything is possible.
 
STAFF
 
The Grey members of staff are committed educators who serve the best interests of the school and the boys in their care.  Unfortunately, classes of 40 or more learners create huge challenges and we therefore need the assistance of our parents to cope with these problems, in order that teaching and learning can take place in an environment conducive to teaching and learning.
 
Messrs Dries van der Wal and Tommie Cronje are long-serving, reliable deputies while the heads of department and subject heads render invaluable service to maintain high academic standards, and deal with the ever-changing educational environment.
 
Ons is dankbaar dat ons personeel almal by Grey se buitemuurse program betrokke is, aangesien dit wonderlike geleenthede vir opvoeding bied.
 
Ons verwelkom me Joanita Erasmus, mnre JR Prins en Martin Jansen van Rensburg op ons personeel, asook mnr Christopher Steyn in die Grey Itec gimnasium.
 
Ons is dankbaar vir die professionele wyse waarop ons sekretaresses, mevv Annemarie Hollenbach, Elsie Geeringh en Juanita Nel nie net hul pligte uitvoer nie, maar ook die naam van die skool uitdra.
 
THE GREY GENTLEMEN
 
Dries Swanepoel, Daniell de Jager and Jan Serfontein were the school leaders and with the prefects and matrics, set a positive example for all the boys to follow.
 
Weliswaar loop dinge in ‘n skool met 1200 leerders soms skeef, maar as ‘n mens terugskouend  oor die jaar besin, is daar groot dankbaarheid vir seuns wat die waarde van Grey se tradisies en etos waardeer.
 
Some boys who do not buy in to our ethos, value system and motto of “Grey gentlemen do not need rules”, should consider other options for their schooling, since the positive atmosphere of Grey should not be influenced by a small percentage of negative learners.
 
AKADEMIE
 
Grey se akademie is op ‘n puik standaard en ons moet steeds harder werk om meer suksesvol te wees. In verlede jaar se matriekklas was daar slegs een druipeling en ons seuns het presteer in Olimpiades, Expo’s en Nautilus Wiskunde.
 
Die slaagsyfer van die verskillende grade was soos volg:

The Governing Body and members of staff have agreed to the introduction of MOODLE, which will change the way in which we teach and learn for the better. All lessons, sketches, video clips, etc will be available on the internet and learners will be able to revise, study and even write tests on devices such as computers, laptops, I-pads and cellphones – many of us will have to get used to it, but it is essential and exciting.  It will enhance our academic work and will be a leap into the future. Through our Outreach Programme, disadvantaged schools will also benefit from this programme. We are indebted to one of our parents for his substantial contribution and input regarding this initiative.
 
BUITEMUURS
 
Grey se buitemuurse program poog om ‘n verskeidenheid aktiwiteite aan te bied sodat elke seun ‘n kans gebied word om aan ‘n aktiwiteit deel te neem en sodoende ‘n bydrae tot die skool se sukses te lewer.
 
Ons probeer ook voortdurend vernuwe en sal daar vanjaar nog splinternuwe krieketnette opgerig word. DIt sal uit kunsmatige grasoppervlaktes bestaan en sal ook in die winter vir 5-man hokkie aangewend kan word.
 
We insist that ALL Grey boys must be involved in sports or cultural activities to ensure a balanced education.
 
We are deeply indebted to all our sponsors who make it possible for our teams to travel to and to host top teams throughout South Africa - what a privilege.
 
CULTURAL ACTIVITIES
 
The fact that more than 200 of our boys participated in the music festival, and that hundreds of the Grey gentlemen turned up to sing in the mass choir during the 3 sell-out shows, proves that our cultural activities are  well-supported and enjoyed by the school.
 
MUSIEK
 
Music is part of the school’s subject package. Unisa, Trinity and Royal Schools are accredited at the Department of Education. In order to do music for grade 12, a learner must achieve level 6 practical and level 5 (Unisa) theory.
 
EXTRA-CURRICULAR MUSIC
 
Approximately 30 learners are involved in extra-curricular piano and a variety of music- instrument lessons are available in the afternoons.
 
MUSIC FESTIVAL
 
It was a privilege to share the stage with top performers such as Steve Hofmeyr, Charl du Plessis (both Old Greys) and the vivacious Jennifer Jones. The special show for the aged, orphans and learners from special schools drew more than 800 people, who enjoyed a delicious meal and a fantastic show. We thank BIG SKY for the transport of our friends and we are also indebted to FIRST NATIONAL BANK and the ARTS TRUST for their generous sponsorship.

GREY ENSEMBLE
 
Die ensemble het vanjaar uitgeblink tydens die Passiespele op Lady Grey, by die kunswedstryd waar hulle n A++ behaal het en tydens die musiekfees.
 
GCB STRING PROJECT
 
A group of 9 inexperienced musicians joined this project earlier this year and performed at the Oprah Winfrey graduation ceremony, as well as at the music festival.
 
INDOMITUS
 
Hierdie sanggroep van 18 seuns het Grey se naam wyd uitgedra, onder andere by Lady Grey se Passiespele, die musiekfees en tydens die kunswedstryd waar hulle n A+ en A++ ingeoes het.
 
 
 
KOOR
 
Die koor bestaan uit 78 seuns wat groot hoogtepunte behaal het. ‘n Besondere prestasie was die feit dat die koor die provinsiale afdeling van APPLOUS gewen het en as een van die top 6 sekondêre skoolkore in die land aangewys is by die galakonsert  van hierdie kompetisie, wat deur die ATKV aangebied word.
 
MARIMBAS
 
This group was much in demand for a variety of events such as the Oprah Winfrey graduation ceremony and at the music festival. They obtained an A+ symbol at the Eisteddfod.
 
GREY BAND
 
This group consists of 20 boys and obtained an A+ in the open division of the Eisteddfod. They also performed on numerous occasions.
 
BOERE-ORKESTE
 
Grey se 3 boere-orkeste was vanjaar baie gewild en is genooi na ‘n verskeidenheid geleenthede. Hulle het ook tydens die musiekfees opgetree en word as van die beste in SA beskou.
 
GREYNAMITE
 
This drumline group consists of 13 members and they performed at numerous functions, including the music festival.
 
GUMBOOT DANCERS
 
This group of grade 8, 9 and 10 learners trained and performed regularly and impressed at various functions and events, including the music festival.
 
STABILIS
 
Hierdie koerant met 35 redaksielede publiseer nie net 4 koerante per jaar nie, maar ontvang gereeld opleiding om steeds ‘n beter produk aan te bied. Ons waardeer die betrokkenheid van VOLKSBLAD en ander kundiges.
 
VOORTREKKERS
 
Grey se Voortrekkers het verskeie kampe bygewoon en Eduard Booysen en John-Henry Sinclair het die Presidentsverkenner-eksamen met lof geslaag.
 
VCSV
 
Hierdie groep het weekliks ontmoet en was deel van ‘n besondere Brak en Duck-kamp met die meisies van Oranje, waar die inspirerende Rodney Seale die kampleier was.
 
KATEGESE
 
Grey se personeel bied kategese op Maandae aan terwyl die finale jaargroep deur buitestaanders behartig word.
 
DEBATING and PUBLIC SPEAKING
 
There has been a steady increase in enthusiasm for this discipline and 6 debaters were selected for the Free State team. Five teams were entered for the SACEE league and 4 reached the semi-finals. Keo Matshele won the provincial public speaking competition.
 
REDENAARS EN DEBAT
 
Ses seuns het aan die ATKV- kompetisie deelgeneem en die junior debatspan het na die provinsiale halfeindronde deurgedring.
 
DRAMA: TONEEL
 
Die groep het tydens die kunswedstryd in elke afdeling waaraan hulle deelgeneem het, A++ simbole verwerf.
 
ATKV JEUGBERAAD
 
Ons seuns het weer baie baat gevind by hierdie beraad en het verryk teruggekeer.
 
MATHEMATICS OLYMPIADS
 
Six of our boys were prize winners during the Amesa Challenge. Our junior team came 3rd in the provincial Maths quiz and 2 of our boys were among the top 100 in the Harmony Maths Olympiad.
Our boys also excelled at the quarterly Nautilus Maths days.
 
SPORTS
 
Our boys can choose from a wide variety of sporting activities. We firmly believe that all-round involvement in the activities of the school is educationally sound and in the best interest of every individual. The team for which one is selected is irrelevant, but being part of a team is essential.
 
Ons bedank graag ER24 vir hul mediese dienste asook beamptes, skeidsregters, lynregters en buite-afrigters wat ons sport steeds verbeter. Vanaf 2012 sal ons doelgerig poog om al ons atiwiteite op die hoogste vlak moontlik te bedryf. Ons poog ook om ons fasiliteite steeds te verbeter, bv die krieketnette wat binnekort opgegradeer word.

RUGBY
 
Die eerstespan het die seisoen onoorwonne afgesluit en groot veggees getoon. Geluk aan Dries Swanepoel, Jan Serfontein, Lenéve Damens, Ruwellyn Isbell en Pieter Jordaan wat die SA Skolespan gehaal het, asook aan Tienie Burger wat vir die SA Akademiespan gespeel het. Dries Swanepoel en Jan Serfontein het ook die SA O/19 Sewesspan tydens die junior Statebondspele verteenwoordig.

CRICKET
 
Our cricket teams play all over South Africa and enjoyed an excellent season. The 1st X1 won all their matches at the St Davids T20 tournament and performed admirably against top schools in the country.
 
Congratulations to Corné Dry who represented the SA U/19 team.

ATLETIEK
 
Grey se byeenkoms was n groot sukses en tydens Sentraal se Top 20 byeenkoms, behaal Grey ‘n 4de plek. 58 Grey atlete het gekwalifiseer vir die Vrystaat skolebyeenkoms in Sasolburg en is Grey vereer met die Top 5 Skole- toekenning. 12 atlete het die Vrystaat verteenwoordig, en tydens die ASA se senior byeenkoms het Wayde van Niekerk die 200m gewen.  Dit is insiggewend dat nog 9 oudleerlinge van Grey tydens die senior byeenkoms presteer het.
 
 Ons waardeer die betrokkenheid van ons borge: ABSA en CLOVER. 
 
LANDLOOP
 
Ons landlopers verteenwoordig dikwels die skool terwyl byeenkomste van die Bloemfonteinse landloopsirkel plaasvind. Tydens die 5 interskoolbyeenkomste vaar die Greymanne goed.
 
Ons waardeer die privaat borgskap aan die landloop.
 
STREET MILE
 
This popular event draws many entries in different age groups and will take place on 19 October 2011.

TENNIS
 
The popularity of tennis at Grey is on the increase. Only 1 matriculant was included in the first team and the future looks bright. The team reached the semi-finals of the Gerrie Berner tournament in Stellenbosch and performed well in inter-schools competitions. The victory over Affies under lights was a highlight.

TAFELTENNIS
 
Hierdie sport gaan van krag tot krag en verdien ‘n beter lokaal. 10E2 het die klaskompetisie gewen en die 1ste span het die plaaslike liga
gewen, terwyl die 2de span derde was. Vyf senior spelers is vir die Vrystaat gekies.
 
MUURBAL
 
Daar is groot potensiaal en groeiende belangstelling in hierdie sport. Tydens St Andrews se uitnodigingstoernooi het Grey al 5 wedstryde gewen. Greyspanne het aan vele ternooie deelgeneem en ons provinsie verteenwoordig.  Na afloop van die O/16 toernooi is Lawrence Kuhn en Elias Polydorou in die SA Top Tien ingesluit.
 
Ons bedank ADIDAS: POWERADE; PRINCE vir hul betrokkenheid.
 
HOCKEY
 
Grey fielded 5 U/18, 5 U/16 and 3 U/14 teams this year. Pre-season tours were undertaken to PE, George, Queenstown and Hilton, while the U/14s hosted the annual Nomads festival. The 1st X1 won the Bloemfontein league and the Free State Cup.
 
Hendri Kroukamp was selected for the SA U/18 team.
 
We will do everything possible to improve on this year’s results.

SWEM
 
Tydens Grey se gala is afskeid geneem van die beskermheer van Grey se swem, dr John Pepler. Verskeie rekords is verbeter. Grey wen Affies se uitnodigingsgala en word as naaswenners gekroon tydens die Westville aflosgala waaraan 10 top swemskole deelneem. Baie seuns het ook in die Midmarmyl geswem. Tydens die Interskole gala het Grey al die ouderdomsgroepe ingepalm asook die duikbeker, terwyl Reynard Wessels as Victor Ludorum aangewys is. Hy is ook ingesluit in Suid Afrikaanse spanne wat oorsee meegeding het.

WATERPOLO
 
 Grey bied elke jaar twee groot toernooie vir O/14 en O/18 spanne aan en dit lok van die beste skole in die land. Ons O/14 span toon baie potensiaal en daar word hard gewerk om strukture in plek te kry om ons waterpolo te verbeter.

SOCCER
 
Our U/14 and U/15 teams enjoyed an excellent season, winning the Brebner tournament and doing very well at the St David’s Inanda tournament.
 
The Grey/FNB tournament hosted by Grey was a very successful one with Andre Arendse as the guest of honour. Grey also hosted the Engen Knockout Challenge for U/17 teams from the Free State. The 1st team did not enjoy a very good season, but we have reason to look forward to next year.

GHOLF
 
Grey het n puik seisoen beleef wat begin het toe ons 1ste span die Affies toernooi gewen het. Die span het ook die Bloemfontein Liga gewen terwyl die 2de span tweede was.
 
Theodor Oosthuizen was 3de in die SA O/18 “match play” kompetisie en Attie van Wyk het die beste individuele telling behaal by die O/14 interprovinsiale toernooi. Thirion Nel in gr 8 het die nasionale “stroke play” vir O/13s gewen.
 
SKAAK
 
25 skole het aan die GREY/STANDARDBANK UITNODIGINGSBYEEN=
KOMS deelgeneem met ongeveer 240 deelnemers van oor die land.
Ons juniorspanne het gekwalifiseer om aan die Top Skole vir provinsiale spanne deel te neem. Grey het ook goed gevaar  tydens interskole byeenkomste.
 
In die skoleliga het Grey 3 afdelings en 18 bordpryse ingepalm.
 
FIETSRY
 
Grey is besig om vinnig opgang te maak met een van die beste fietsryspanne in die land. Ons spanne neem landwyd deel en vaar uitstekend, ook tydens interskole byeenkomste. Ons bergfietsspan is pas aangewys as die 2de beste in die land.
 
Grey se prestige fietswedren is goed ondersteun en was ‘n groot sukses.

ANDER AKTIWITEITE
 
Greyseuns vaar ook puik in aktiwiteite buite die skool, bv skiet, karate, judo, perdesporte, waterski, motorfietsrenne, ens. Hulle hou ook die skool se naam hoog en kan kleure van die skool verwerf as hulle op nasionale vlak presteer en ook aan skoolaktiwiteite deelneem.
 
KRAUSE LIBRARY
 
We are convinced that young people should read widely and therefore budget for books and magazines on an annual basis.
 
Daar is ook 18 rekenaars in die biblioteek om internet-toegang aan ons seuns te bied.
 
In n spesiale afdeling van die biblioteek is daar ‘n versameling boeke en oorspronklike manuskripte van boeke wat deur oud-Greys geskryf is. Steve Hofmeyr se nuutste boeke is welkome toevoegings tot hierdie versameling.
 
INFORMATION & COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY
 
The Grey website delivers various services to the Grey family. An e-learning portal is incorporated and can be used by any learning area.
 
The existing course management system, MOODLE, will soon be expanded to all subjects. Upgrades are underway for Grey’s internet access, servers and Wi-Fi network. All classrooms and the hostels will have access to the internet and all classrooms will have interactive whiteboards.
 
Leerders in gr 8 en 9 neem almal rekenaargeletterdheidsklasse waarby ‘n lees- en begripkursus ingesluit is. Inligtingstegnologie kan as’n bykomende vak geneem word en sedert 2010 is Rekenaartoepassingstegnologie ‘n keusevak vanaf gr 10.
 
PSYCHOLOGICAL AND MEDICAL SERVICES
 
An educational psychologist is on campus, with consulting rooms close to the tennis courts. Grey boys, parents and outsiders are welcome to make use of her services for therapy, subject choices, study therapy, sport psychology, choice of professions and all other forms of psychological assistance.
 
A medical doctor is also available for Grey boys, parents and outsiders. He is at the consulting rooms from 07:30 till 09:00 and again from 15:00.

GREY ITEC GIMNASIUM
 
Die Gimnasium, met 4 opgeleide personeellede, aanvaar jaarliks die groot uitdagings op sportgebied en wil graag aan alle aktiwiteite gelyke geleenthede bied om vooruit te gaan.
 
Ons verwelkom oudleerling mnr Christopher Steyn in die gimnasium. Hy skakel gereeld met die eetsaal oor die spyskaarte vir ons koshuisseuns. Hier is ook ‘n fisioterapeut beskikbaar. Rehabilitasie, kondisionering en oefenprogramme word hier beskikbaar gestel en daar is noue samewerking met die sportsielkundige en die mediese dokter.
 
GREYMUSEUM
 
Besoekers van heinde en ver reageer baie positief op die museum en dit is ‘n groot pluspunt vir ons skool. Baie foto’s, klere, artefakte en dokumente word ontvang en in die museumargief opgeneem. Instandhouding en opgradering van die museum, Ou Gimsaal en Reüniesaal word gedoen en al die versamelings word teen UV-bestraling beskerm. Ons is dankbaar dat die kurator ‘n nuwe kantoor in die Reünie se nuwe fasiliteite sal betrek.
 
GREY TOGETHER COFFEE SHOP
 
Hierdie fasiliteit is pas vergroot en bied heerlike etes, koffie, tee en verversings van 07:00 tot 17:00 daagliks. Ons waardeer die dienste van mev Suzanne Wille en haar personeel.
 
KOSHUISE
 
Grey se 350 koshuisseuns is ‘n hegte eenheid wat onder leiding van die koshuispersoneel ‘n groot bydrae lewer tot die skool se sukses.
 
Ons bedank graag mev Lana van der Wal, matrone in Leith Huis, vir haar jarelange diens tot voordeel van ons seuns en wens haar net die beste toe. Baie dankie ook aan mev Monica Machts in Brill Huis en mev Nina van den Berg in Murray Huis. Hulle speel ‘n belangrike ondersteuningsrol in die lewens van ons kosgangers.
 
HAMILTONSAAL
 
Onder leiding van Bennie en Annette Marais lewer die personeel van die eetsaal professionele dienste aan ons kosgangers en ons bedank hulle hartlik vir die etes wat met soveel sorg en liefde voorberei word.
 
TUCKSHOP
 
After many years of loyal and professional service to the Grey family, mrs Hilda Rudd will retire at the end of the year. Through her endeavours, the Tuckshop holds a very special place in the hearts of all Grey boys and Old Greys who regularly return for a Coke and a pie.
 
On behalf of all Grey people who have come to know and respect you over the years, we wish you well.
 
GREY ABSA ACADEMY
 
By means of this initiative we bring 150 learners from disadvantaged communities to Grey for a week every holiday. They are taught key subjects, and interact with a number of Grey boys and Eunice- and Oranje girls, and benefit greatly from the experience. The first group will write matric this year and we look forward to their results.
 
TERREIN EN GEBOUE
 
Grey se 60- hektaar terrein, sportvelde en vele geboue, waarvan sommige meer as 100 jaar oud is, verg gespesialiseerde aandag en versorging. Ons is bevoorreg om mnre Chris Hollenbach, Jaco Pretorius, Ernie Brown en FP Aldrich en hul personeel aan die hoof van hierdie groot taak aan te wend.
 
Ons het aan die einde van Februarie afskeid geneem van mnr Ters Snyman, ‘n Greyman in murg en been wat by baie inisiatiewe betrokke was – sy nalatenskap is ‘n terrein wat altyd komplimente van alle besoekers ontvang en waar seuns, ouers, besoekers en personeel tuis voel. Ons bedank hom vir sy dienste en vriendskap.
 
FINANCES
 
Grey’s finances are in the very capable hands of mr Nico Maritz, a young Old Grey, and the finance committee. The staff members in the finance office, mess. Annalie Cronje, Dollie Viljoen and Judie Marais are committed to delivering only the best service and we appreciate their willingness to walk the extra mile.
 
After more than 2 decades, mrs Judie Marais will retire at the end of the year and we thank her for her loyal service, advice and commitment.

TRUSTS
 
Grey has 3 trusts: The Jock Meiring Trust, the Grey College Bloemfontein Trust and the Bram Fischer Trust; as well as the Grey Foundation. These trusts were, for many years, superbly managed by mr Graham Buchanan who retires at the end of the year. He is the epitome of a Grey gentleman and we express our sincere appreciation for services rendered. His sharp intellect and wisdom will be sorely missed. 
 
SCHOOL GOVERNING BODY
 
Ever since the Education Act required that a governing body should consist of a majority of members elected by parents, this body has served only the best interests of the school and all the stakeholders involved. No wonder that a vote has never been cast in this gathering of staunch Grey supporters – may it always be the case and may the only agenda always be our beloved Alma Mater.
 
Ons het groot waardering vir die onbaatsugtige dienste van die voorsitter mnr Philip Piek, die ondervoorsitter  mnr Jan Berry,  mnr Neville van Niekerk as voorsitter van die finanskomitee en al die komiteelede wat hul tyd, kennis,  energie, wysheid en ywer beskikbaar stel.
 
 GREY REüNIE
 
The Reünie is the central office for all the various branches of Old Greys all over the world. Mr David Roberson as chairman, and his deputy, mr Stefan van Schalkwyk, give hours and days of their time for the great cause that is Grey College and they deserve our appreciation for a job well done. We also thank the capable, helpful office staff, mess. Marieta van der Walt and Alida Terblanche.
 
OUERS
 
Ons ouers speel ‘n sleutelrol in die werksaamhede en suksesse van Grey. U betrokkenheid, bereidwilligheid om te help met vervoer en huisvesting van besoekers, word waardeer.
 
We request that our parents also assist regarding discipline, school attendance and punctuality of learners.
 
Dankie aan die ouerkomitees wat so fluks arbei in die belang van die skool, veral die Graad 11 komitee wat die puik matriekafskeid gereël het.

We congratulate mr Lindsay Mould, the members of staff and the boys on a highly successful year. We share the same ideals and must therefore live and work in harmony in order to serve the best interests of our stakeholders.
 
DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION
 
We are grateful to the MEC, mr Tate Magoe, the Head of the Education Department, mr R Malope, our SMDG, mr R Belot, and all members of staff for their continued support and assistance. As a community school we are part and parcel of the educational system in our city and province, and we are always willing to be of assistance.
