The end of one era usually means the start of a new era – Grey repeated this exercise at the end of October when the old leaders bid the school farewell and a new group of leaders were introduced.
Three new school captains, Nicol Linde (Hostels), Neil Marais (Town) and William Small-Smith(School captain) as well as a new group of prefects were elected by the Grey boys. They will determine the direction of the school in 2010. For the leaders and 1 200 boys a tough task lies ahead.
In the usual farewell speech on behalf of the 2009 matrics Bruno Schwalbach wished the new leaders well in their difficult task and encouraged the rest of the school to support them. Francois Venter made it clear that negativity and a bad attitude will not be tolerated, “Please go if you don’t want to be here, because we really don’t need you.”
