This past cricket season was a good season for Grey cricket. The first cricket team once again showed why Grey’s cricket is so highly rated in South Africa.

At the beginning of the year the first team participated in the Standard Bank Cricket Festival which was hosted by Grey High in Port Elizabeth. Die team performed exceptionally well and set themselves high standards which they maintained during the rest of the season.

Cricket is very popular sport at Grey. This has lead to the players being more than the amount needed for teams in the league. An internal league and a six-a-side league at the school has given these boys the chance to play cricket.

Three boys from Grey College, Rillee Roussow and Obus Pienaar, who matriculated last year and Stefan (Spoed) Smith who is this year's captain, were included in the South African /19 team earlier this year.

Mention must also be made of the standard of the main cricket oval this past season, a facility that is unequalled in South Africa. This facility has contributed to the positive results achieved by the Grey College First XI.
